Fire in the Sky
I've arrived at a state where I get antsy when I'm not working on a painting. It's a good problem to have. Painting requires a level of engagement that minimizes all the other daily distractions and seems like a very important thing to be doing.
I've spent a lot of time seeking out sunsets, trying to understand how light works, how it bends to create a spectrum of color on the clouds and the atmosphere as it descends to fall below the horizon. Or, as any scientist will point out, as the earth turns away from the sun. It never gets old for me. So that when I attempt to capture that in a painting, it's always a challenge, always a pleasure.
